On Replay Right Now

Hi! This is Patricia; as of late, my sister and I have been border-line obsessed with a few songs. In no particular order, here they are:

1. Somebody That I Used to Know– Gotye feat. Kimbra (2011)
The song is quite catchy- frankly, we could use more songs like this. As in, more songs that actually speak of something, rather than rap songs that sound good but are mindless. Anyways, Gotye's collaboration with Kimbra was a really good decision, and their music video is very unique. In a People issue from May 14, 2012, the Belgium-born singer said, “Kimbra and I had our bodies painted stroke by stroke, and these shots took eight hours at a time- for four seconds of footage!”

2. Call Me Maybe-Carly Rae Jepsen (2012)
Ah, what to say? Well, this song’s simple but driving rhythm makes it very...energetic. Carly is so bright and looks very radiant. A lot of groups have done “covers” of this song: Justin, Selena and co, Katy Perry, and quite a few sports teams. Even Barack Obama and Mitt Romney made a cover! If it can get the President to dance,  then it must be a pretty good song, am I right?  Not only that, but it peaked at Number 2 on the Billboard Top 100 and is currently number 1 on iTunes. I think that it certainly deserves that spot, if only because of how catchy it is

3.  I’m So Excited- The Pointer Sisters (1982!)
It’s an oldie, but it really never gets old! It’s …EXCITING! You can get up and start dancing and the song is like Excitement in a box. I mean, it really doesn’t get any better than that. :) In the end of the music video, they have an entire club bouncing with excitement. But, really- the song hit the Billboard Hot 100 at 30 and its re-release landed the song at number 9. This song was featured on their 1892 album So Excited! and their 1984 album Break Out.

So, these are my favorite songs right now. What are some of your favorite songs? Comment! :)
xoxo,
Patricia
